“The blue mountains are of themselves blue mountains. The white clouds are of themselves white clouds.”
Zenrin Kushû
Your everlasting summer, you can see it fading fast
So you grab a piece of something that you think is gonna last
You wouldn’t know a diamond if you held it in your hand
The things you think are precious I can’t understand.
Steely Dan: Reeling in the years
you lay in the grass and watch the planes fly high above you, make imaginary destinations if you could wish yourself aboard. you realize that while the exotic and the new are always welcome, there is nothing, absolutely nothing better than right here, right now, with the people you are with. no amount of dreams of blue turtles or koans of enlightenment will let you see what is right in front of you.
Have you ever seen a sight as beautiful
as a face in a crowd of people
that lights up just for you?
Have you ever felt more fresh or wonderful
as when you wake
by the side of that boy or girl
who has pledged their love to you?
Well I have known all these things
and the joys that they can bring
And now every morning there’s a cup of coffee
and I wear your ring
Cowboy Junkies: Anniversary Song
Here in the depths of a canadian winter i developed a nice surprise the other day, a roll from this past summer! Via the hassy, a roll of old Kodak VPS expired somewhere around 1998. love those colours! some Lazy Eyed Susans and Daisy’s for your day, as well as a field of dreams.
3 shots from a recent walk out to the mer bleue bog in the middle of our Canadian winter. it was cold, was worried about the film freezing, but all was good. finished off a roll of Acros 100 and a really old roll of Kodak VPS
“I love you so much I’ll never be able to tell you;
I’m frightened to tell you. I can always feel your heart.
Dance tunes are always right: I love you body and soul:
—and I suppose body means that I want to touch you and be in bed with you,
and i suppose soul means that i can hear you and see you and love you
in every single, single thing in the whole world asleep or awake”
Dylan Thomas.

There is just something special about film. Maybe its the way the depth of field just falls of so gradually as opposed to the way digital now seems to fall off in chunks. Something about the way the light falls on the clothing or the skin. Its just magic.
